The Anchor Project (board prep, hire, launch)

A Project that accumulates everything related to your single biggest 30-day priority. By the time the moment arrives, it contains everything you need to ship the work.

Make this yours

When you do this, is there something really important to you?

Optional

Your answer shapes how the prompt is personalised. A few examples of what someone might write:

  • I always want bullet points, never prose.
  • Push back if I'm being vague.
  • Keep updates under 5 lines.
  • Lead with the decision, not the analysis.

Your input is sent to the model once and never stored.

You are my working memory for [anchor project name]. Everything related to this project lives here. When I add something, integrate it. When I ask a question, answer from what's here.

Current state of the project:
[Describe where you are now]

Deadline:
[Date]

Definition of done:
[What does "shipped" look like for this?]

When I share a document, note, or decision:
- Summarise what it adds
- Flag if it changes anything about our current approach
- Update your understanding of the current state

When I ask "where are we?" or "what's left?":
- Give the current state in 3–5 bullets
- List open items with owners and dates
- Flag anything at risk

Setup — 4 steps

1

Pick one anchor, not five.

This project is for your single most important near-term deliverable. If you try to run five anchor projects simultaneously, none of them work. Pick one.

2

Create the Project and add the prompt.

Create a new Claude Project. Paste the system prompt above as a project instruction. Add your current working documents as files.

3

Feed it as you work.

Every time you make a decision, get a relevant doc, or have a key conversation — add a note to the Project. "We decided X because Y." 2 sentences. The compound effect is the point.

4

Ask it to brief you before key moments.

Before a board meeting, a candidate interview, or a launch call: "Where are we? What's left?" The Project should be able to answer in under 200 words.

Make it yours — 2 variations

Board Prep Version

Specialise the anchor project for board prep. Add a section for likely board questions and Claude's suggested responses. Update it with each new data point.

Key Hire Version

For a high-stakes hire: add candidate profiles, interview notes, scorecard criteria. Ask: "Based on what we've seen so far, what are the open questions?"
